PAK NAVY FMT PHYSICS SERIES
Physics Quiz 1: Measurements and Motion
Strengthen your understanding of physical quantities, units, speed, velocity, and acceleration.
Start Your Physics Preparation
Welcome to Pak Navy FMT Physics Quiz 1, an educational practice resource for students preparing for the Pakistan Navy Female Medical Technician initial test. This lesson introduces basic measurements and the physics of motion.
Physics helps us understand how objects move, how distances are measured, and how quantities such as speed and acceleration describe movement. Learning the basic definitions and formulas can make numerical MCQs easier to approach.
Topics Covered
- Physical quantities and SI units
- Distance and displacement
- Speed and velocity
- Acceleration
- Basic motion formulas
Physical Quantities and SI Units
A physical quantity is a property that can be measured and expressed using a numerical value and a unit. The International System of Units (SI) provides standard units used in science.
| Quantity | SI Unit | Symbol |
|---|---|---|
| Length | Metre | m |
| Mass | Kilogram | kg |
| Time | Second | s |
| Temperature | Kelvin | K |
| Force | Newton | N |
Understanding Motion
Distance is the total length of the path travelled. Displacement is the change in position from the starting point to the ending point, including direction.
Speed tells us how much distance an object covers per unit of time. Velocity describes displacement per unit of time and includes direction.
Important Formulas
Average speed = Total distance ÷ Total time
Average velocity = Displacement ÷ Time interval
Acceleration = Change in velocity ÷ Time taken
A Simple Numerical Example
A student walks 100 metres in 20 seconds. The average speed is:
Speed = 100 ÷ 20 = 5 m/s
Always check the units before selecting an answer in a numerical MCQ.
How to Practise This Topic
Begin by memorising the SI units and understanding the difference between distance and displacement. Then practise speed and acceleration questions using simple numerical values. Read every question carefully and identify which quantity you need to calculate.
Before You Attempt the Quiz
- Review the SI units listed above.
- Learn the speed and acceleration formulas.
- Practise converting measurements where needed.
- Check your answers and review any mistakes.
